How to choose a physician.

Your primary care physician is an important member of your health care team. So, taking the time to determine your needs, narrowing your selection based on those needs and considering the physician candidate’s qualifications, all equals time well spent.

At AHPN, we believe that an open, highly communicative doctor-patient relationship is essential for effective care. That’s why, as one of the largest primary care groups in West Michigan, we provide a comprehensive network of over 115 physicians who strongly promote each patient’s active involvement their own health. We offer Meet and Greet appointments to those searching for a physician, so they have ample opportunity to really get acquainted with their physician candidate.

If you are new to the area or feel your current physician is not a good fit for you, now is the right time to make the switch.

Search the Advantage Health physician directory for complete profiles of our skilled physicians.

We’ve put together this checklist to help you select your ideal physician:

What are the physician’s professional qualifications? Educational background? Professional associations? Board certifications? All of our physicians are board certified, skilled professionals who are dedicated to providing safe, effective, efficient and equitable, patient-centered care. They practice medicine with a focus on proactive preventive care and disease management. To see a complete list of each physician’s credentials click here.

Does the physician provide appointment times for urgent care issues, same-day and after hours care? AHPN provides our patients with same day appointments, convenient early morning, weeknight and weekend after hours appointments at our Express Care facilities, and a 24-hour Urgent Care Plus facility in partnership with Saint Mary’s Health Care.
